  I think this book’s art is quite nice and that the text is gratifyingly bold, which I like.

  This children’s storybook is a shortened version of the movie, packed between two hard covers. The wonderful pictures are in full color and relive the movie’s magic. A great addition to the disney classic storybook collection that every Mulan fan should have.

  Another good book on a Disney classic. Full of wonderfull drawings, sketches and animation concepts and background designs. I always buy the “Art of” books Disney puts out on each of their new films. It’s always a treat to see how concepts of characters and backgrounds changed as they went along. Sometimes for the better, and sometimes not. Being an artist myself, I always enjoy seeing the drawings of the rough animation and characters studies. It’s nice that they included some photos of the original source material from China in the front of the book. This again shows how far Disney’s team goes to research a subject. The information and research shows up on the screen. And besides, the books pretty cheap, so you can’t go wrong. My only complaint is that it could have been a slightly bigger book page wise.

  This book is extremely valuable to the WDCC collector, espically if you are a beginning collector. It gives you the issue price for a scuplture and the secondary market price so you can make an informed decision on how much to pay for a sculpture. I refer to this book constantly when making a decision on a purchase, especially if the asking price is more than the issue price.

  It also explains the different backstamps, anniversary marks and production marks which can affect the secondary market price.

  The only problem I have with this book, is that it was printed in 1996. Many new scuptures have been added and many older ones have now been retired. It would be nice to have an updated version with the newer sculptures added and the current secondary market prices updated for the retired scuptures.

  All in all I highly recommend it to the WDCC collector or anyone interested in becoming one.

  The value in a guide like this is that it be kept up-to-date annually. This book was published almost three years ago, and the market for collectibles has changed rapidly. Unless you can find a publishing date later than 1996, save your money, and check it out at a local library. The information contained in the book is good as far a descriptors and nuances that will make a piece more valuable. Unfortunately, it does need a major overhaul.

  The book is ecxellent when it comes to pure facts about the figurines but when it comes to prices a lot of the pieces is actually down as of today in the allover collectors market(good for sellers, bad for the inexpirienced buyer)

  It’s a shame this volume was discontinued–there are some good stories here and it is an excellent value. The illustrations are very nice. The writing is OK, but nothing special. It tends to be rather bland–somewhat more than a condensed description of what happened in a cartoon–but it does the job. The stories themselves are obviously appealing to kids, and our little boy liked most but not all of these stories. He particularly enjoyed some that you might not expect, like “Bootle Beetle’s Adventure” and “The Old Mill.” You can see video versions of these on YouTube, by the way.

  I really loved this book, it contains a lot of Disney Stories that are not found elsewhere and the pictures are all very good. My four year old loves it and my baby daughter who is just past one loves to look at the pictures. Really a good buy.
